Naju is located in the south of South Korea where pears are cultivated on temperate and hilly terrain. They mainly cultivate Shingo pears, called Niitaka in Japan. Naju also exports their pears. Naju, where the Naju Pear Museum is, and Kurayoshi, where the Nijisseiki Pear Museum is, participate in exchanges as sister cities due to the pear connection.
